Phyllis works with the watercolor medium, the Pastel medium and Graphite pencils. Inspiration comes from every face and from every landscape, especially the landscapes in the PWN. She finds that her artwork is a way of connecting more fully with both the physical world and the spiritual world. Born and schooled in Georgia, Phyllis turned early from art studies to a discipline considered more practical. She continued her art studies through art associations and workshops. After retiring, in 2006, she and her husband moved to Whidbey Island. They had come to love Washington through regular visits with their relatives living there. Phyllis is a member of Penn Cove Gallery, Whidbey Allied Artists, and Pacific NW Art School, and she participates in the Annual Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival.
